Fall Harvest Race

Begun in 2008, the Fall Harvest Race is the one of the last competitive races of the season – held the Sunday of Veterans Day weekend. Join us and enjoy the stunning views of the dramatic Hudson River to the more bucolic Cornwall environs. You’ll see why after docking at what is now Cornwall Landing, Henry Hudson felt this would be a good place to found a town.

7.5 MILE SCENIC CHALLENGE
Scenic Challenge will include parts of the 5K route with views of the Hudson River, Storm King Mountain and, of course, the beautiful Fall foliage. It is a challenging course with a one mile uphill climb that at mile 5 provides a beautiful panoramic view of Cornwall and Orange County territories both – even the Newburgh Beacon Bridge on a clear day! There is a water table near the top. Followed by that panoramic view is a sweeping downhill finish where the streets are lined with well-wishers.

5K RACE/WALK
5K is a relatively flat and fast 3.1-mile course beginning at the Storm King Firehouse on Hudson Street in the center of quaint and historic Village of Cornwall-on-Hudson. The route transverses through and around the Village allowing runners and walkers to take in views of the Hudson River, as well some historic home sites, local restaurants, and businesses.

KID’S RACE
The Kid’s Race is a relatively flat, fast and furious .3 mile course beginning at the Storm King Firehouse on Hudson Street in the center of quaint and historic Village of Cornwall-on-Hudson. The course is an out-and-back route and features a thrilling and dizzying hairpin turn at the midway point whereupon the runners reverse direction and return to the start/finish line. Parents are advised to keep back from the course to avoid flying elbows and airborne road debris.

Annual Wreath & Roping Sale

The Cornwall Lions’ Annual Wreath and Roping Sale has been a major project over the years. Because of our community’s support, this project has been a successful fund raiser. The effort generally funds our Holiday Gifting Program.

An order form is distributed widely enabling our supporters to select the quantity and size of wreaths, centerpieces and roping. Orders received by November 27th receive a 10% discount.

We also man a booth on Main Street in the Town of Cornwall on weekends between Thanksgiving and Christmas at Bridge St. Come by and visit us and pick out a wreath, centerpiece or roping for your holiday decorating. We have lots of fun at this event cajoles passers-by and friends to pull over and purchase. Please don’t ask us to sing carols – we just might.

Annual Holiday Gifting Program

Every year the Cornwall Lions undertake a gifting program to bring joy to needful children, youth and families in our community. Each year we are allocate $4,000 for this program. Lions on this committee work with local social welfare professionals to determine the needs of local families with children and then embark on a massive shopping spree.

Most years the Cornwall Lions assist up to 20 families – delivering nearly one hundred packages just prior to Christmas. Our Wreath and Roping project provides a considerable amount of the funding for this program. The balance is provided from our general fund.

If you know a family in need or would like to sponsor a family please contact us.
